Leighton Blue Bird & Roses Teapot
|Much Loved Leighton Blue Bird -
When I saw this teapot it tickled a memory I had. I thought perhaps
someone else would feel the same. The edge banding it lovely as are the
blue birds flying on the pot. The bird and flower basket on the face are
repeated on the reverse side.
Perhaps a Milk Bath will help the
look. See below.
Other than crazing issue, no chips, dings or cracks. Gold shows some use
in spots. After all, this was a loved teapot.
Maker's Mark shown below.
This teapot is 8 1/4" from spout tip to turn of handle
and 5 1/2" to the knob.

Aged, often used without proper heating and sometimes ...
well I don't know why... Crazing occurs. Very often a Milk Bath will
help the piece to LOOK better. The craze lines won't disappear but they
won't be as obvious either.
Place your crazed pot, lid and/or cup in a pot and cover with
whole milk until submerged. Heat over low for an hour. Do not boil. Turn
off heat, let cool and remove pieces. Rinse and then tuck on the shelf
for amazed viewing. If the crazing or crack it not too deep, the piece
will look "better."
